Hi there!

I write to you with all kinds of exciting news: the past week or so has been incredible, and the upcoming weeks are going to be even better!

First off, the 36th edition of the Harry Jerome Awards took place this past Sunday April 28th at the International Centre in Mississauga, Canada and was truly one of the most prestigious and important events of my career to date.  Among the sixteen recipients in a variety of categories, I was honoured to receive the Arts award at this year's event.  To receive this distinction is undoubtedly a high point in my career which would not be possible without you and your continued support over the years.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to make this achievement possible!

Coming up next in performances will be not one, but TWO recitals this Sunday May 6th in Ottawa, Canada.  The first recital that day is a return to Trinity Anglican Church at 2:00 pm which will feature an exciting new concert programme of works by Beethoven and Chopin.  Later that evening will be a performance at St. Luke's Anglican Church, starting at 7:30 pm.

And don't forget - just one week later will be a trip over to Montreal, Canada on Saturday May 12th for a recital at Cathedrale Christ Church - located in the heart of the city.  This recital is part of the L'Oasis Musicale concert series, beginning at 4:30 pm.  The following day will be a return to the nation's capital Ottawa to round out this group of early May performances on Sunday May 13th with an afternoon recital at Glebe St. James United Church.  Limited seating is still available, so be sure to make your reservations while it is still possible!

There is also some exciting new developments for the new album - now set to be recorded later this year!  The recording dates have been set aside for late September, which will likely be in time for release sometime in late 2018 or early 2019.  This album will include works by Beethoven, Schumann, and as a token of appreciation to you as faithful subscribers, you will be the first to know the official details (with other added caveats!) before they are made known to the general public.

Also be sure to keep an eye on the website for complete details on these and other happenings.  New blogs will be posted in the near future, as well as a launch on weekly feature videos from new videos I have been posting on Instagram.  If you are also an Instagram fan, follow me at lukewelch_pianist for fun daily posts!

As always, please feel free to message me - whether you have any ideas or suggestions for future performances, concert venues, repertoire requests, or even just to say hello.  It is always a pleasure to hear from you!  Also, feel free to share this message with others who you believe may be interested in this information, and recommend that they sign up for this newsletter to receive these emails directly.

Until next time, I wish you nothing but the very best!
